As you probably know the KDE team is working hard on the upcoming version of KDE 4.0. Some days ago
a first preview was released with code name "Krash". From dot.kde.org:
"This snapshot is meant as a reference for developers who want to play with parts of the new technology KDE4 will provide, those who want to start porting their applications to the new KDE4 platform and for those that want to start to develop applications based on KDE4"
Like any KDE 3.x application KPovModeler has to be ported to KDE4 and QT3. The main porting task is already done,
KPovModeler compiles and runs stable with the current KDE4 library. However, there are many references to deprecated functions
and classes that have to be replaced with their new counterpart.
My spare time is quite limited to work on KPovModeler, so if you like to contribute please contact Andreas Zehender. You should have some experience with
the application itself. Please also include in your mail your profession and skills for KDE and Qt programing.

As you noticed, www.kpovmodeler.org has a new design with updated
navigation and contents.
German, french and portuguese translations will follow.
Meanwhile we are fixing the last few bugs for KPovModeler 1.1, that will
contain many new POV-Ray 3.5 objects and general enhancements.
Just wait in suspense for KDE 3.2.

The italian magazine inter.net published
a review about KPovModeler recently.
The abstract, translated to english:
"From Daniele Medri madrid@linuxmeeting.net: If you love raytracing, then
you love applications like POV-Ray - www.povray.org and if you're interested
in povray, you can't avoid trying KPovModeler - www.kpovmodeler.org, an
application that interfaces with the previously referred well-known engine
and offers considerable features and possibilities. When you visit the site
mentioned and manage to download the software, don't doubt of the version
number (at the moment of the writing, version 0.2), because the aplication
in question has been in development for several years and besides ensuring a
considerable stability, offers the possibility of managing 3d projects in a
very intuitive fashion."
